Obviously, most of the material contained herein has application elsewhere. There are no specific paths to wisdom and understanding. And there is no substitute for actual underway operations. Nevertheless, the list which follows should be of great benefit to all concerned. The above list is not meant to be all inclusive, nor is a complete knowledge of the collective contents of these publications meant to be a prerequisite to chartering with us.
This list will be enlarged and refined in time, and we are open to suggestions. Please keep in mind, however, that we would like to keep this list as simple, effective and efficient as possible. On the other hand, we could certainly develop other sub-headings, including a "Deep Stuff" section for heavy duty reading, and an "Other Stuff" listing for miscellaneous books of redeeming merit.
Another good way to augment the above reading is through participation in any of the boating classes offered by your local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or U.S. Power Squadron. Both web sites are listed on our "Related Links" page, under "Resources". In addition, there are several other very good information sources listed in that same section.
